Beginning on Monday, February 22 Friendship Village welcomed 21 Conant and Schaumburg High School students as volunteers. The students are part of Conant High School’s Learning through Community Action Program (L.C.A.P.), and the SHARE program at Schaumburg High School.

According to the District 211 website: “Conant’s unique L.C.A.P., in which seniors devote a minimum of 20 hours over a 10-week period to community service, is the winner of numerous civic commendations and the Governor’s Hometown Award for being one of the best programs for teens and youth community involvement in Illinois.”

The students will be helping Friendship Village by facilitating activities and programs ranging from Wii bowling to bingo to giving manicures. Students and residents alike enjoy the interaction and look forward to their visits. Many students develop a personal connection with a resident, or have a family member somewhere else that has inspired them to help serve the residents of Friendship Village.
